Did Blat bloggers notice a sudden reduction in spam comments?

Over the last few days I’ve been playing with a few different “tactics” to cut the spammers out of Blat. My previous attempts, IP address blocking, were pretty ineffectual, so I adopted a different approach.
Last night, to fully test the new “tactics,” I removed all the blocked IP addresses from .htaccess. I was expecting to see a huge flood of spam comments overnight, but so far, not one! 
It seems as if my new “tactics” are working. So I was wondering if anyone else has also noticed a reduction in spam comments?
